The fall is always a special time here in Boston. The leaves change, the temperature cools but the activity always heats up at SHIFT Communications.
This past month was what we lovingly know as SHIFTober! The month was jam-packed with fun things to do as a way of saying thanks to all the hard-working teams here in the office. The annual “Rocktober” competition once again showed the competitive streaks of SHIFTers as they did battle in the Guitar Hero Thunderdome that is our conference room. In the end, after weeks of eliminating the competition, Megan Lane took on the defending champion Sarah Bergeron for the Rocktober championship. Needless to say…there is no stopping Ms. Bergeron. She is simply an axe-wielding monster.
Following the month-long video game madness was our annual Halloween costume contest. I’m always impressed with the creativity we see from SHIFTers during this spooky time of year. This year we saw Kardashians, angels, devils, roller derby dames, Teen Mom baby Daddy’s and, of course, The Hoff!

The other members of the SHIFT family also rocked SHIFTober as San Francisco conducted its annual pumpkin carving contest and New York City launched its first Halloween bake-off! Good stuff all around…almost makes you sad to see the month end…almost. The reason we can be excited to see SHIFTober end is the jump-start of Movember!
For those who are not familiar, Movember is an international month-long charity in November where men grow out their mustaches to raise money and awareness for major health issues affecting men. (Ladies, you can participate too – you just won’t be growing any hair on your face. At least..I hope not.) This year, the money raised by Movember is donated directly to the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) and Lance Armstrong Foundation (LIVESTRONG). There is a lot of talk across Twitter of who among the PR firms will raise the most money and grow the most creative mos. Well, when for a good cause, we can certainly get into ‘friendly’ competition! As this is the third year SHIFT has participated in Movember, I like to think we have experience on our side.
